BIRMINGHAM, AL - (February 9, 2016) — Jefferson County is stepping up its efforts to combat litter and illegal dumping. In the last year, over 250 tons of trash have been collected from County roadsides and illegal dump sites. Aside from the ugly visual, these sites create situations that can be harmful to health, property values and quality of life.Dumping is a crime and will be prosecuted. If you see illegal dumping in unincorporated Jefferson County, call the Zoning Division of the Jefferson County Land Planning Office at 205-325-5638 (option 6), or email Contact_Zoning@jccal.org to report it. Our investigators will be on the case and cameras are monitoring known, common sites. Individuals found responsible for dumping will be cited and assessed what is currently a $250 fine. Instead of dumping, we ask that our residents take pride in their communities and deposit trash where it belongs. Legal dump sites can be found in the following locations: Mt.
