Jefferson County Commission Declares State of Emergency To Close Courthouses To Public At the End Of Business Today

In an emergency meeting today the Jefferson County Commission voted to declare a state of emergency in the County due to the COVID-19 virus. This declaration allows for the Emergency Management Agency to implement its emergency powers asset out in Alabama Code 31-9-10 (1975). In addition, the Commission approved a resolution that will close the Jefferson County Courthouse and Bessemer Courthouse and its annex locations to the public following the close of business today – through April 6. Citizens are encouraged to do business on line where possible using the following links.
