WHERE:              Corner of Karl Daly and Old Leeds Road (see map)

WHO:                   Representatives from Jefferson County Commission, City of Irondale, Wright Brothers Contractors, and Jefferson County Roads and Transportation

WHAT:                  Ribbon cutting celebrating the substantial conclusion of this project that included a 4-lane roundabout, road widening, and other improvements.

WHY:                    This is a significant project that will improve the traffic flow and capacity in the area for the citizens of Irondale and surrounding Jefferson County.

Project Stats:

• Project construction started in January of 2022 and is completed on schedule in September of 2023.
• Project scope included improving the traffic operation along Grants Mill Road from the intersection of Grants Mill Rd and Old Leeds Rd to 1-459 interchange. 
• Work included construction of the roundabout to improve the intersection operation and safety, widening the existing two-lane facility to a four-lane facility, and installing traffic signals at the 1-459 interchange. The road widening portion of the project required construction of 40-foot-tall soil nail wall and drainage structures.
